Either by air then hire car or alternatively by ferry. By air and local car hire will involve the least amount of travelling time, this can be done by either charter or schedule flights.

Charter flights will go from your local airport to Reus, which is the airport holiday comp anies will use for the nearby tourist resort of Salou. Return flights can be purchased for ab out 100 pounds but be prepared to shop around for different departure airports to get the bes t deal possible.

Schedule flights are to Barcelona and the best deals are by Easyjet from Gatwick, Luton or Liverpool, these can be obtained from as little as 100 pounds return. Transfer time to Benifalett will be 1 hour from Reus and 2 hours from Barcelona.

The cost of a suitable hatchback Polo or equivalent is around 125pounds per week, but agai n shop around.

The alternative is to take the ferry and drive, either down through France or from Santand er or Bilbao in Northern Spain. These options obviously involve a much longer travelling time and are more suited to people staying in Spain for at least a fortnight.

The direct ferry from Plymouth to Santander or Portsmouth to Bilbao is certainly our sugge stion as it is far more relaxing than the long drive through France. There is a drive of appr oximately 6 hours from northern Spain across to the accommodation. A cost of between 400 and 500 pounds would be typical for a return trip involving a single vehicle, but this is obvious ly dependent on a number of variables. This price would be applicable which ever your preferr ed route is.
